Grand Canyon & The Hoover Dam, Arizona 2017

If I had a Bucket List (note to self: follow Dr. Birnbaum's advice), the Grand Canyon would have been on it. Perhaps when I get around to making that list, I'll put it on, just so I can gleefully check it off!
.
The Grand Canyon is worth it. Simple as that. That said, I didn't realize how difficult the journey was going to be until we rented a car and drove out to the Native American reservation at the West Rim. No one without a ticket gets past the gift shop.
.

With no internet service to devise an alternative plan, we caved and purchased the tickets. First stop, a tacky little Native American village museum.
.

Then we arrived at the Skywalk, which we declined. Instead we walked all around the property, taking in the most breathtaking sights of natural beauty like nothing I've ever seen!
.

As you can see from the images, there are no railings anywhere, just a few rangers standing around scowling and barking at the foolish selfie-taking tourists. Some of these crazy people got so close to the edge that I had to turn away, fighting off the stabs of vertigo in my gut.

We also toured the Hoover Dam in Clark County, Nevada. What an amazing feat of engineering ingenuity.
