In June of 2017, I tagged along with the Plansee group to Las Vegas. Steve and I added on some extra days to explore the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam (seen above at the edge of Lake Mead). While Steve and his colleagues were at the convention, I roamed the streets and venues of the City of Sin, people-watching, sight-seeing, and picture-snapping. .
We stayed at the Bellagio right on the strip. Every night, there is a fountain display set to music right outside the hotel.

I purchased a bus pass for the week and on the first day, rode out to the city limits where tourists are greeted by the iconic welcome sign, show girls, and Elvis impersonators.

Over the next few days, I explored the hotels, the casinos, and the tourist spots. The sights are overwhelming. Synchronized music is pumping along the sidewalks; characters are everywhere- all ages in every size and shape. The temperature was is the 90s, but water misted out along the sidewalks and one is never more than a few steps away from air conditioning. Many of the tourists purchase a plastic vuvuzela-shaped container which they carry and refill at participating establishments for really short money. Public drinking is everywhere and appears to be encouraged. Here are some images to check out:
