Rock of Cashel

Sunday in Tipperary started slowly as people slept in and relaxed in their new digs over coffee and breakfast. What a delight to gather together in the sitting room and out on the patio in the garden!

.

We all drove over to tour the Rock of Cashel, or Carraig Phádraig, also known as Cashel of the Kings and St. Patrick's Rock. It was fun exploring the property and singing in the chapel. Then we walked through the town of Cashel in search of a restaurant that could accommodate all 14 of us. The little village is quite charming and electric with excitement as the Tipperary team won the hurling tournament over Galway just that day. Fans were spilling out into the streets, with one mixing it up with us and insisting we take his picture!

.

We ate at The Oasis, an Italian/ Mediterranean restaurant with seating upstairs at a window overlooking the village. Most of ordered the Irish beef with mashed potatoes which tasted like pot roast- yummy!

Back at the castle, we relaxed with drinks, sat on the patio, and played snooker.
