Ruette, here we come!

We checked out of the Hotel Emero Guadio, ate a delicious breakfast, and boarded the mighty Volvo for the last leg of our journey.

.

The GPS directed us through the Swiss Alps where we got a glance of the lovely town of St. Moritz. We were slowed and stopped many times for road construction and I marveled again at the engineering feats of these civil engineers. I also marveled at the casual dismissal of safety measures as we passed dozens of workers without benefit of cones or barricades. The workers all wore neon orange vests, but the only people (not police) on detail were holding up green or red signs when the street was open to one way traffic only.

.

Spectacular scenery.

We drove for about five hours without stopping until we arrived at Hotel Maximilian, just outside of Reutte. The room they gave us is on the top floor with a long balcony, complete with table (requisite ashtray of course), umbrella, two chairs, and window boxes overflowing with flowers. The room is two levels with a couch and another table and chairs on the upper level (it's about five steps up with a wrought iron railing). From where I sit at the inside table, I can see Steve's shirts airing out in the Alpine breeze on the balcony clothing rod.

We unpacked, showered, and changed before meeting up with Egon and our fellow Americans from Franklin- Maggie, Aimee Dubois and his wife Gail, and Mark and Sue. We sat out on the patio where I had my first wiener schnitzl of the trip. Yummy!
