Buongiorno, Italy!

After another four hours in the car, we arrived at our destination of Lake Como. The ride along the lake and then through the town of Varenna, and then up to the Hotel Eremo was pretty challenging with the monsterous car Hertz dumped on us. The car path to the hotel was so narrow, the Volvo warning beeps provided a rattling soundtrack the whole way. At one point, I got out and walked, convinced that there was no way on earth we were heading to a parking lot as described in the hotel brochure. I was wrong. A few narrow twists later (with no oncoming cars, thank St. Anthony), we arrived at a level lot and took a big sigh of relief. We made it.
